Playa Bonita, San Felipe, Yucatán, Mexico.
Playa Bonita is a hidden gem located on a small island (isla) just across from the fishing village of San Felipe. Because the town itself is situated on an estuary, you must take a quick, scenic boat ride—typically about 5 to 10 minutes—to reach this stretch of white sand and turquoise water.

What to Expect
The Setting: Unlike the busier beaches of the Riviera Maya, Playa Bonita is known for its tranquility and rustic charm. The water is shallow, calm, and crystal clear, making it ideal for families or those who want a peaceful swim.

Facilities: The beach features several palapas (thatched-roof umbrellas) that provide much-needed shade. There are usually basic wooden walkways to help you navigate the sandy terrain.

Atmosphere: It maintains a very «local» feel. While it can get busier on weekends or holidays, during the week it often feels like a private paradise.

Activities
Swimming & Relaxation: The gentle current is perfect for wading or lounging in the water.

Birdwatching: As part of the transition zone near the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve, you can often spot shorebirds, egrets, and occasionally flamingos flying overhead or feeding nearby.
Photography: The contrast between the emerald green mangroves and the bright white sand makes it a favorite spot for capturing the natural beauty of the Yucatán coast.
Getting There
To visit, you head to the main pier in San Felipe. Local boatmen offer «colectivo» trips or private rides to the beach. They will drop you off and arrange a time to return and pick you up.

RESTAURANTE PUNTA NICHILI , PLAYA SAN FELIPE , CEJAS & FAMILIA.

Atmosphere and Experience

Casual Vibe: It is known for its unpretentious and welcoming environment, making it a popular choice for families spending the day at the beach .
Accessibility: Since it is located on the island portion of San Felipe, the experience begins with a short, scenic boat ride from the main village pier.
